|| Leiko || The Eyes of Distrust Lieko10

::Leiko::

::Gender:: Female
::Age:: 8 moon Cycles
::Wolf Subspecies:: 50% British Columbian Wolf, 50% Interior Alaska Wolf

-Personality-

::Outer Shell::

Leiko basically has dual personalities. On the outside she is timid and fragile, she jumps at almost every sound in fear that whatever created it will hurt her. She refuses to open up to anyone because she treats everything like an enemy or like a monster, and instead of it being locked up in a cage, she is and the lock to it is breaking. One would think that when approached she would either lash out with sharp words or even blunt claws and teeth, but in complete honesty, she does the exact opposite. She freezes. Her mind shuts down and goes into panic mode. She relies on instinct, and this instinct of hers insists that the answer to everything that you don't know how to deal with is to flee. Despite this though one thought is always clear in her mind, she is young and she needs help. So if somehow she managed to get into a pack this mere fact wouldn't change anything. This timid, shy, scared wolf is most likely the only wolf that the members would get to know. It's safe to say that the real Leiko isn't trapped in that cage with that monster that this first one is. Instead she's locked up, bound by chains, forced to watch in fear as the monsters try to claim her life.

::Inner Shell::

If by some miracle someone somehow managed to break through her outer self, they'd fine someone totally different. Yes they would still find someone who needs protecting, but they'd also find a character much different. Inside Leiko is a carefree, happy, bubbly spirit. She wants nothing more then to play and everything in the world to work out okay. The young canine acts like there's no worry in the world, and that for once, she's safe.  It seems that there's no cap to her endless amounts of energy, and she's seen always with a smile on her face, or a look of awe.

This only lasts through the morning though, and hours of light. During the day older wolves tend to love her, as her usual temperament tends to rub off on them for a bit. At night however, she can be considered a nuisance. This is because her attitude doesn't leave, however it's for a valid reason. Leiko has a terrible fear of the night, and suffers insomnia to a certain degree. She hates sleeping simply because her dreams are haunted by nightmares, and would rather be forced to face the dark by passing out from exhaustion then actually sleeping at her own will. When she does manage to fall asleep though, it doesn't last long. She tends to wake up what feels like only moments later screeching, and screaming.

Whether you know her personally or only know her for her outward way of going about, she is a secret keeper. She has trust issues, and won't even tell what her nightmares are about. It's hard to say though, what exactly she is capable of and whether or not she'll ever fully open up, so it's a matter of what time brings forth. Since she's so young there's still room for change, its only a matter whether it'll be the right kind or not.

-Appearance-

::Build and Weight::
Leiko is taller then what would be considered short for her age, but smaller then what's considered average. She's small without second glance, and it wouldn't take a genius to realize this fact either. In the muscle aspect, she lacks greatly, as she is built for speed and the ability to squeeze into smaller areas. As for her weight, she is under quite a bit of the healthy weight for her particular breed mix and well, any wolf of her age in general.

::Coat::
Leiko's coat is nothing grand, nothing stunning and eye catching. It, quite frankly, is quite dull. Her fur simply consists of variations of Dark Grays, and different shades of browns. There are, however, shades of white-silvers along the frame of her head leading a bit of a ways down her neck. Other then that, the only thing different in the way she looks is her paws, her paws are a much darker shade of grey, basically black.

::Scars::
Leiko is quite young to already have scars flaunting her pelt, no? Well nonetheless, she does. They're nothing major though. A bit underneath both of her eyes there is a '~' shaped scar, it isn't very large, but it is certainly visible at first look. The only difference between the scar shape and the '~' symbol is that the actual scar is more jagged and sharp, not at all as neat. It looks almost like someone drove a single claw messily underneath each of her eyes. Another flaw in her pelt is on her ear, her right ear has a tear in it.

::Eyes of Distrust::
The eye color of this young wolf is a shade of brown that's almost warming. Or so that's how they look when she's happy. Otherwise, and most of the time, Leiko's eyes are a shade of brown that seem to be clouded over with fear, sadness and distrust.

-Beneath Skin and Flesh-

Leiko was brought into the world by her mother, Yuki- British Columbian Wolf- and her father, Halt- Alaska Interior Wolf. What an odd pair the two truly were. Never once could they agree on anything and the two were not in one bit alike. Halt was used to the solitary life and didn't at all want to start a life with the female, or anyone as a matter of fact. While Yuki left her family to pursue this male out of curiosity for he was nothing like the other native wolves. Somehow though, somewhere along the way the two made ends meet. The two never met eye for eye, being from such different lives but they stayed with each other and worked out the kinks knowing that, no matter how dreadful it was for both of them to admit it, they needed each other.

When Yuki became expectant with Halt's pups he was enraged. He didn't ask for any of this, but when Leiko and Vale entered the world everything changed. Vale was the image son to Halt right from birth, he was large and obviously had much potential, but Leiko on the other hand was weak. This fact didn't change anything though, if anything it brought him closer to his daughter. Life was perfect for the small family, it seemed like nothing could go wrong. This was until the foaming mouth disease was brought into the area.

-

The pups were around the age of 3 moons, so their eyes were opened and they were starting to inch away from milk, so if it became necessary they could live without Yuki any longer. She went out one day and disappeared. Halt was left with the two pups for a few sunrises without their mother. When she did return though her eyes were clouded over and they looked... deranged, maybe even possessed to say the least. Her mouth foamed and she seemed to have no conscious control over her actions. Halt had never dealt with these circumstances and froze, the pups didn't know how to react so they were simply left to cower.

Yuki attacked.

She went first for Leiko and easily knocked the undersized pup over. Instead of killing her instantly though, Yuki took her claws and made feeble attempt to scratch at the small pups face. Leiko didn't make a sound, her eyes simply clouded over with fear as she locked eyes with her once gentle loving mother. Obviously not being able to think straight Yuki's cuts were nowhere close to how bad they should have been. Maybe it would've ended worse if it weren't for Halt though.

Halt lunged at his mate knocking her over. The two grappled on the ground before Halt ended it all. He fastened his teeth into the female's throat and mercilessly ended her life.
"And that Vale and Leiko, is why you don't grow close to someone, they turn into monsters unless someone saves them."

-

Those words stuck with Leiko, but that day changed her forever. Whenever she closed her eyes she saw her mother's eyes boring into hers, her teeth so close to her throat. Every night when darkness overcame them darkness followed her to sleep, so eventually she stopped trying to sleep, convinced that everything around her was just one big nightmare.

As moons went on everything only got worse, when Halt tried to teach her and Vale how to fight at the age of 6-moons, she cowered and ran, scared that they too, were going to try to kill her as her mother had. She thought her family had betrayed her and that she could trust no one. That day she kept running never once thinking of turning back. Whether or not the two ever looked for her, she would never know.

Every time Leiko looked in a puddle or saw her reflection though, she cowered. She was a spitting image of Yuki, and when she locked eyes with herself, she locked eyes with her mother. Being so young she had no idea how to provide for herself so how exactly did she provide for herself the two moons before landing in the tribe's territory? She simply scavenged. Her body grew toothpick thin, and wouldn't be able to take the harshness of sickness so if she were to survive she would have to find help and quick. And that's the end of her story, but the beginning of her saga.
